Bids Are Invited To Help British Legion Funds

This artcile originally appears in the Hartlepool Life 06/11/2019.

Two unique pendants are to be auctioned to raise money for the Royal British Legion. Hartlepool jeweller Mark Lloyd has worked with jewellery designer Larry Watson, who has previously made items for Tiffany and many others, before designing two special pieces for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Mark said “I had the idea to get involved in raising money for the Poppy Appeal this year and to work with Larry, an engraver and jewellery designer. Over the years he has developed a special engraving and inlay technique, reverse intaglio, which I am a huge fan of the way he does it.”

He added: “Larry has developed a special engraving and inlay technique using reverse intaglio rock crystal inlaid with dyed red silver and 23ct yellow gold. I then hand made 925 sterling silver frames which were the engraved.”

The frames read “We remember the sacrifice they gave for our freedom”.

Only two of these pendants exist in the world and are not planned to be repeated.

All proceeds will be sent to the Royal British Legion through a Just Giving page set up by The Society of British Jewellers.

Mark continued:  “I want to auction them both to the two highest bidders. They are on display in the shop in York Road for anyone wishing to view them in person before bidding.”
